Blackpink album “The Album”
The South Korean girl group, Blackpink, released their very first album on October 2nd, 2020. After their debut in 2016, they have amassed over 50 million subscribers on Youtube. Thanks to their massive fanbase, their new album has sold over 100,000 copies in the US just during the first week. With streams, sales, and everything else included, they have generated $133k in total.
The album consists of 8 songs, some of which feature American pop artists like Selena Gomez and Cardi B. The girls worked closely with producers like Teddy, Tommy Brown, R. Tee, among others. The members Jennie and Jisoo also took part in writing the title song “Lovesick Girls.” While they were producing the album, Blackpink stated that not only did they want people to appreciate their singing, but also see their mature side and all the emotions they experienced growing up and learning about love.
If you are a League of Legends fan, this might just be the perfect music group for you! Their second single, “THE BADDEST,” which came out on August 27th, 2020, has topped Billboard’s World Digital Charts as well as iTunes’ Kpop Charts. Despite only having two singles out—“POP/STAR” and “THE BADDEST”—both songs by K/DA have topped the charts mentioned. Not only did they attract “League” players, but they were able to expand their listenership outside of the “League” community as well.
